Dainese Mike 2
Dainese Mike 2 Leather Jacket Product Description
The Dainese Mike 2 is the successor to the original Mike leather jacket, which was released back in 2014, and it maintains the no nonsense, timeless look that made the original jacket so popular. Nonetheless, it still features some great updates for the current market. The jacket, ready for spring and summer seasons, combines the safety of Dainese protectors with the comfort and functionality of a garment that expresses your personality out on the road each day.
This updated jacket is going to cost 460 euros, or about 510 USD at its recommended retail price.
The Mike 2 is 100% leather and will provide good abrasion resistance. This means that this is a cowhide jacket with Iride Matt treatment, ideal for standing out wherever you ride and for a great level of comfort. The jacket has localized perforation to allow air inside the jacket, making it perfect for spring and fall, as well as the cooler months of summer. The jacket does not feature any reflectivity, which is something to consider if you ride during the early morning or at night.
However, it is still prEN 17092 certified.
Like its predecessor, the Dainese Mike II offers protection in the shoulders and elbows. This protection is the Pro-Shape 2.0 soft protectors, which are EN certified and are flexible and comfortable. This will provide shock resistance and increased abrasion resistance in those high impact areas. There is also a pocket so you can insert a G1 and G2 back protector, which is not included with the jacket.
Looking at more general features, there are two outer pockets that can be accessed via zippers, and there is a small adjustment that can be made on the collar with two vents. There are no other areas where adjustments can be made, but this makes sure the jacket keeps its sleek profile. The Mike 2 Jacket does have a jeans loop on the inside back, so that it can be connected to any riding pants to prevent the jacket coming up in the event of a crash.
Once unzipped, the Dainese Mike Two has a techframe mesh internal liner, which should help to keep the inside of the jacket cool. You will also find an additional inner pocket, bringing up the total number of pockets on this jacket to three.
The Dainese Mike 2 Jacket continues the legacy of the original Mike by delivering a simple, stylish jacket, that manages to provide the rider with protection while still looking cool. It would have been nice to see more options to make adjustments, but perhaps that just adds to its no nonsense look, making it perfect for people who just want a cool leather jacket that can double as a riding jacket.
